Looking to stay active and maintain your mobility? The Fountain Hills Activity Center has a variety of exercise classes for older adults!
Geri-Fit
Geri-Fit is strength training for older adults. For the month of October, there are three classes that will be offered:
- The first is a 30-minute “Stretch This” workout. It will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30-9:00 am.
- The second class is “Strength Training for Fall Prevention”. This class is also held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10:00-11:00am.
- The third class is “Exercise to Prevent Osteoporosis”. This is held Fridays from 9:00-10:00 am.
You must bring your own hand weights, stretch band, mat, and water. They will utilize DVD’s for these exercise classes. In order to participate, you must have an Activity Center Membership.
As we get older, it is important to keep our bodies moving. The February 2017 issue of Clinical Intervention in Aging reported adults 65+ that participated in Geri-Fit programs showed an 80.8% improvement in balance over a 90-day period.
