Although Four Peaks Rotarians haven’t been able to meet in person the past few months, the challenge hasn’t kept them from continuing to serve Fountain Hills residents.

“As business leaders in our community, we wanted to reduce some of the emotional and economic suffering caused by the pandemic,” President Scott Sommer, said. “Fortunately, we have creative, dedicated members who stepped up to spearhead new initiatives.”

Those new initiatives include the establishment of a Community Cause Committee designed to help local people in need. Members authorized the expenditure of up to $5,000 of club funds which were used to purchase $50 Fry’s gift cards and distributed to 75 families through the Fountain Hills School District.

Members also approved the allocation of an additional $5,000 of Foundation funds for the Extended Hands Food Bank. Individual members contributed $1650 along with food donations.

Both initiatives were proposed and approved during bi-weekly Zoom meetings. The club approved other service projects as well, including a joint Mother’s Day Parade with the Fountain Hills Rotary Club past the town’s two assisted living facilities and a Memorial Day flag-placing project at Fountain Park.
