The annual Stroll in the Glow was this past Saturday night, and it was truly a hit. The event, which was sponsored by the Sonoran Lifestyle Team at RE/MAX Sun Properties, was likely the biggest in its history this past weekend. Thousands of people gathered at the Avenue of the Fountains for the first lighting of the town Christmas lights.
At the main Sun Properties office, kids and adults lined up in huge numbers to get a picture with the Grinch and Cindy-Lou Who at the entrance to “WhoVille,” where the realtors served wine and cookies to the townspeople. Outside, a DJ played Christmas music while dancing elves entertained the crowd.
At the Sonoran Lifestyle Team office, an equally large line poured out of our doors. Some were served our signature cocktail, a cranberry-pomegranate drink that people really raved about. Some were kids happily writing letters to Santa in our North Pole-bound mailbox. Others took photos at our holiday Selfie Station. There was never a dull moment.
At the intersection of the Avenue and Verde River Drive, Santa rode in on a firetruck and greeted hundreds of people. He then took holiday photos with the kids for the rest of the evening. Meanwhile, the Copper State Blues Band jammed out to popular rock tunes and holiday songs.
All of this was backdropped by astounding Christmas lights following a speech by Mayor Ginny Dickey, a bike decoration contest for those who Rolled in the Glow, a myriad of tents selling food and goods, and a busy night for the businesses along the Avenue.
It was a beautiful night with beautiful lights all around, a great way to bring on the peak of the holiday season.
