The Memory Café is held on the second Thursday of the month from 9:30 - 11:00AM. Coffee and pastries from 9:30 - 10:00AM followed by discussion.

Workshops at the Fountain Hills Artists Gallery are back!

On August 16, join instructor Linda Lawrence as she teaches a class on constructing colorful bracelets with genuine Tila double hole beads. During the afternoon, you'll be able to make up to 3 bracelets. Open to beginners and experienced artists alike, the workshops offer hands-on instruction in a welcoming and creative environment. Desert Tortoise Night Ride happens the first Tuesday of every month. Mountain biking provides a unique and exciting way to experience the outdoors. Our Mountain Bike Night rides are designed to accommodate riders from a variety of backgrounds. This ride will be approximately 8 to 10 miles at a casual pace under the starry sky. This ride requires lights and a helmet. Join us for fun and this is a great ride for those just getting started in mountain biking at night. Meet at McDowell Mountain Regional Park - at the Four Peaks parking lot. We roll out at 7pm and enjoy the evening ride together!

What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander's airstrip on September 11, 2001. Based on the true story, Come From Away depicts the events when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we're all part of a global family. Rated PG.

Clarinetist Joe Giacinto, 22, of Gilbert will perform jazz and pop fusion tunes at Atticus Music | The Listening Room on Sunday, September 13th, 4-5 p.m.

Giacinto, a music major at Mesa Community College, was honored to play "The Star-Spangled Banner" to kick off the Arizona Diamondbacks home opener against the Detroit Tigers at Chase Field on March 30 in Phoenix. He is inspired by many musical artists of today and yesterday.

The Listening Room setlist in Fountain Hills will include twists and riffs off artists Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Bobby McFerrin ("Don't Worry, Be Happy") and Pharrell Williams ("Happy").

Giacinto, who was born blind, says Winehouse's song, "Our Day Will Come" is essentially the theme music to his life because "it's manifesting that dreams come true."

Giacinto, who is a passionate car lover, said he will conclude his one-hour set with an original song titled, "Blue McLaren," named after his favorite automobile.

Workshops at the Fountain Hills Artists Gallery are back!

On September 14, join instructor Linda Lawrence as she teaches a class on constructing colorful bracelets with genuine Tila double hole beads. During the evening, you'll be able to make up to 3 bracelets. Open to beginners and experienced artists alike, the workshops offer hands-on instruction in a welcoming and creative environment. Each workshop is taught by a professional exhibiting artist, giving participants the opportunity to learn new techniques, explore their creativity, and create original artwork of their own.

Join us at the library to discuss teen manga and anime! Every month we will start a new manga series and discuss its themes, characters, and what we liked/disliked about it. For ages 12-18. Manga volumes can be picked up at the library front desk.

Only twice a year does sunlight come into perfect balance at the equinoxes. Join Vicky Derksen for an early morning desert hike to welcome the Fall Equinox sunrise. Not as spectating outsiders, but as creatures of the desert ourselves. We’ll take time to notice: the changing temperature and humidity, the scents, the sounds, and the feel of the Earth beneath our feet as we greet the sun over Four Peaks.
Our trail is about two miles round-trip on uneven desert terrain with rocks and natural obstacles that require steady footing. The elevation gain is moderate.
This hike is suitable for ages 12 and up with good mobility and fitness for desert hiking.
Bring plenty of water, wear sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes, and check the weather to choose appropriate clothing. The sky will be getting light, so flashlights are not necessary.
We hike even if it’s cloudy. Space is limited, so register today.

Desert Tortoise Night Ride happens the first Tuesday of every month. Mountain biking provides a unique and exciting way to experience the outdoors. Our Mountain Bike Night rides are designed to accommodate riders from a variety of backgrounds. This ride will be approximately 8 to 10 miles at a casual pace under the starry sky. This ride requires lights and a helmet. Join us for fun and this is a great ride for those just getting started in mountain biking at night. Meet at McDowell Mountain Regional Park - at the Four Peaks parking lot. We roll out at 7pm and enjoy the evening ride together!

The Memory Café is held on the second Thursday of the month from 9:30 - 11:00AM. Coffee and pastries from 9:30 - 10:00AM followed by discussion.

Come, explore the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation (FMYN) with the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center and Clissene Lewis, Director of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Center & Museum. Experience the community's rich culture and history on our immersive tour of the FMYN reservation. Guests will tour new locations as well as some favorites from past tours. Learn how the land and river are still life-giving to the Yavapai people today, just as it has in the past.

The tour features a look at the importance of the Verde River as a central water source for current FMYN farms and as a central source of much that has supported the FMYN throughout time. Other cultural, historical, and environmental topics are planned, including a visit to Rosa's Ranch, the FMYN Cultural Center.

You will enjoy your tour in the comfort of an air-conditioned touring bus with snacks and water provided along the way. End your experience with an elaborate buffet at the WeKoPa Resort Casino.

Our trail is just over one mile round-trip on uneven desert terrain with rocks and natural obstacles that require steady footing. The elevation gain is moderate. We will stop frequently along this route to observe.
This hike is suitable for ages 12 and up with good mobility and fitness for desert hiking.
We hike even if it’s cloudy. Space is limited, so register today. If tickets are sold out, join the Wait List to be notified if there is an opening.
