The Fountain Hills Athletic Booster Club has started construction on the Fountain Hills High School Falcons Nest. The “Nest” was inspired by students for both leisure and athletic development.
Details
The Falcons Nest will be developed from an old storage room in the big gym. The first part of the room will be called the “Coaches’ Corner”. This corner is to be used as a preparation place for all the FHHS sports teams, such as football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, etc. Also, it will have a seating area that can accommodate up to 33 players. Teams can use this to watch game films or prepare for an upcoming game. In addition, there will be a 15-foot projection screen. There will also be four high definition OLED screens on the sides of the projector.
The other area of the room will be called the “Achievement Lounge”, a spot for both athletes and other students. Student release is at 2:20 pm, but the sports programs do not start until 3:20 pm. Therefore, this is intended as a place for students to do their homework, play games, or simply socialize during that time. The lounge will consist of tables, chairs, sofas, foosball tables, and Xbox gaming consoles. There will also be a variety of vending machines, an outlet wall dedicated to charging electronic devices, and large-screen OLED TV’s.
Donations
Several donations have allowed this project to happen. The Verne C. Johnson Family Foundation provided $25,000 to support this effort. In addition, there was a labor donation from local electrician Vincent Barbagallo, CEO of Barbagallo Electric Company. His team spent a day tethering old lights to allow for demolition of the room. They will return to wire the new lights as well as provide electrical support. There have been many local businesses and members of the Fountain Hills Community who have supported this effort. The Fountain Hills Athletic Booster Club and the students of Fountain Hills High School are very grateful for their contributions.
