In Honor of Valentine’s Day, The Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery is hosting a special exhibit entitled “Wearable Art and Jewelry Showcase.”

Wearable art refers to individually designed pieces of handmade jewelry, accessories and clothing and can be considered a unique artistic statement. This isn’t your typical trunk show. The gallery artists are going all out creating unique mannequins to display these one of a kind pieces. All exhibited artwork and many of the mannequins will be for sale during the two-week event and will be offered at a 20% promotional discount.

Exhibitors included artists Margaret Sullivan who fashioned “Miss Mannequin Shenanigans” by covering a white mannequin with hand-dyed doilies and Jeanie Thorn, who welded “Industrial Chic Mannequin” entirely of steel and embellished her with horseshoe nail eyelashes and a zebra-print hat. Artist Cheri Short’s “Fringe Benefits Mannequin” was made from a one-dimensional metal-cut mannequin form shape with crackle two-tone paint and adorned with handmade vintage jewelry.

Visitors will be able to purchase these remarkable pieces and vote for best of show.

The exhibit is on display February 1st through the 14th.  Visit the gallery during this time and enter your chance to win a free gift basket. The gallery will host a reception and gift basket raffle on February 13th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.  Light refreshments will be served.
